Blue Mesa Reservoir is a haven for water sports enthusiasts, offering expansive waters ideal for boating, sailing, and leisurely exploration. It's a playground for activities like water skiing, kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, and relaxing beach outings, with brave souls even venturing into its depths for a swim during the warm midsummer months. However, it's the reservoir's deep waters and abundance of sizable fish that truly set it apart.

At the heart of Blue Mesa Reservoir lies the Elk Creek complex, a premier facility boasting the main marina, a visitor center, and a campground equipped with Adventure Camping Pods available for rent. The marina provides convenient amenities such as boat launching, a well-stocked store, fishing tackle, fuel, pontoon boat rentals, kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and boat slips, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all water enthusiasts.

The marina, and the Adventure Camping Pods are only open in the summer, while the NPS visitors center and campground are open year-round. Elk Creek Marina is located 16 miles west of Gunnison on Highway 50. There is a well- marked turn-off.
